Community Partners Working Together to Keep Fallbrook Beautiful – “Welcome Home” is a tribute to the brave men and women who serve this country; it was installed on East Mission Road, just west of I-15 on May 26, 2012.
|
This project was a collaboration between Fallbrook Beautification Alliance, Save Our Forest and the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce. Local businesses (including Steve Jacobs of Nature Designs, Southwest Boulder and Stone, and the Fallbrook Public Utility District), also donated time and materials to the tribute, . FBA Board member, Jedda Lorek, was responsible for the concept and carried it through to completion. The Chamber of Commerce provided the flagpole. Jackie and Russ Heyneman and many “Save Our Forest" volunteers planted the area and continue to maintain it through community donations.
This memorial evolved over a period of years, since the time when military families would tie handwritten banners to the chain-link fence that previously enclosed the site.
